Joanne Wacha: Feeling Shy
Joanne Wacha was born in 1984 in Harrow, London. Joanne attended local mainstream primary and secondary schools and also spent time in hospital, attending the hospital school, after becoming ill at the age of thirteen. After school she went on to a local sixth form college, then a residential special college and then on to university.
Here Joanne remembers her first day at a new school.

I remember being on this green school bus with all the other kids that, I don’t know what their issues or problems were, but I just remember them celebrating my birthday and I was very, very shy ‘cause I didn’t want to go up to the front of the classroom to blow out the candle.Explore more
